The Salmon Run 5k is an annual community event whose beneficary this year is
Los Padres ForestWatc, the only nonprofit organization focused solely on
protecting the Los Padres National Forest. One of their most important
projects right now is to permanently safeguard more than 200,000 acres of
the Los Padres National Forest by designating it as “wilderness” under
the1964 Wilderness Act. They are also seeking to protect 124 miles of rivers
and streams under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. It is the largest land
conservation initiative in our region in nearly two decades.
